Buying and selling homes regularly, the rich and famous own some of the most lavish residences in the world. So it makes sense that some properties have had more than one VIP owner.

American heiress, DJ, and entrepreneur Paris Hilton is thought to be worth a cool $400 million (£295m). As well as being the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of the Hilton Hotel chain, and inheriting a substantial fortune, Paris has earned her own cash via numerous successful business ventures.
So, the star has plenty of money for spending on luxury homes. In June 2025, Paris snapped up a new spread after losing her Malibu home during the Los Angeles wildfires in early 2025.
This mesmerising property lies in the ultra-exclusive Beverly Park neighbourhood of Los Angeles and, along with her husband, Carter Reum, Paris dropped $63 million (£46.4m) on the place, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com. Their purchase topped Redfin’s top 10 list of the country’s most expensive home sales in June 2025.
And it isn't difficult to understand what drew the couple to the pad. For starters, the French-inspired palace sprawls a staggering 30,000 square feet (2,787sqm) and has a gorgeous six-acre (2.4ha) garden that’s kitted out with every imaginable amenity.
The interior is every bit as stunning as the façade, with rooms boasting soaring ceilings, hardwood floors, period mouldings, elegant wrought iron work, and plenty of marble.
There are 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms in total, as well as a dramatic entrance with a double staircase, a gorgeous kitchen, a living room, and a formal dining room. Yet the pièce de résistance is the home’s two-storey library. With its seemingly endless ceiling and spiral staircase, it really has the wow-factor.
Of course, there are plenty of other facilities that Paris no doubt was drawn to. There’s a large, professional-grade gym, a home theatre, a wine cellar, and a cigar room.
Plus, outside there’s a pool, a fire pit, and a multi-sport court that’s ideal for pickleball and basketball. Amazingly, there’s even a five-hole golf course and driving range. So, who previously owned this remarkable residence?
The amazing mansion was owned by none other than American actor and producer, Mark Wahlberg. The Ted star owned the property for more than a decade and reportedly paid $8.3 million (£6.1m) for the land in 2009.
He then hired architect Richard Landry to design the dream home, and it was finished five years later. Wahlberg apparently moved to Nevada in 2022, in a bid to enjoy a quieter life with his wife, Rhea Durham, and their three children. They are said to have bought a vacant plot in a luxury community near Las Vegas for $15.6 million (£11.5m).
In 2025, Madonna made Forbes' list of America's Richest Self-Made Women, with a reported net worth of $850 million (£626m). So, inevitably, she has an impressive real estate portfolio and has owned homes all over the world, including Portugal, London, and the Hamptons.
However, in early 2021, Madonna set her sights on the 'blinding lights' of Hollywood and purchased a mega-mansion that had been on the market for almost a year. Previously owned by a fellow pop star, who hails from Canada, can you guess who she snapped up the palatial home from?
Madonna splashed out $19.3 million (£14.2m) on this lavish estate. It sits within an ultra-private gated community in the Californian city of Hidden Hills, just 30 minutes away from Sunset Boulevard.
The contemporary retreat was constructed in 2016 and measures an astounding 14,000 square feet (1,300sqm), with seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms in total.
Inside, the lavish spread boasts generously proportioned rooms with high ceilings, hardwood floors, and sleek white marble. There's a double-height hallway that leads through to open-plan living spaces.
Elsewhere, an LED-lit wine room, fitness studio, and screening room add to the home's luxe finish. Two master suites lead out to private balconies, with views of the garden below.
The home's three-acre (1.2ha) garden is home to a two-bedroom guest house, a five-car auto gallery, a basketball court, a gym, a swimming pool, and a cabana. The singer reportedly turned a large barn into a gym and pilates studio, too.
Madonna relisted the mansion in April 2022 for $26 million (£19.1m), finally settling for $23 million (£1.7m), according to TMZ.
So, who sold her the pad just the year before, earning the 'Material Girl' a tidy $3.7 million (£2.7m) profit?
Madonna bought the sprawling mansion from fellow pop star The Weeknd. The 'Blinding Lights' singer paid $18.2 million (£13.4m) for the pad in July 2017, just one year after it was built.
He then put it on the market in June 2020, for $25 million (£18.4m). It languished for 10 months before Madonna decided to buy it. The singer didn't downgrade, either. He swapped the place for a 33,000-square-foot (3,066sqm) mansion in Bel-Air, which he bought for a cool $70 million (£51.5m).
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the world's best-loved actors and has an enviable property portfolio. Worth an estimated $300 million (£221m), the Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood star owns homes in Malibu, Palm Springs, and Los Angeles, but has bought and sold a huge amount of properties over the years.
In May 2021, he bought one of the finest homes in his collection, a Spanish Colonial-style mansion in the Los Feliz area of LA, from a fellow actor with a keen eye for interior design...
Leo paid a whopping $7.1 million (£5.2m) for this enchanting historic home and reportedly gifted the mansion to his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken. According to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, the star owns a pad on the Sunset Strip, which is only a 30-minute drive away.
Apparently, the residence was on the market for less than two months – and once you see inside, you'll understand why!
Spread over 5,000 square feet (465sqm), the house was built in 1928 and exudes old-world charm. The previous owner hired Will & Grace set decorator Peter Gurski to overhaul the interior, transforming it into an eclectic oasis with beamed ceilings, stone fireplaces, and stunning arched windows.
There's a rotunda-style foyer with an original terracotta floor, a wrought-iron staircase, and a stencilled ceiling. This leads through to stunning formal living and dining spaces, with romantic Juliette balconies.
The house also comes equipped with four bedrooms and six bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen, and a family room that doubles as a media room, thanks to a drop-down screen.
Outside, there's plenty of space for Leo's mum to enjoy the Californian sunshine. A swimming pool and sauna sit alongside a relaxing yoga room, a viewing deck, and an outdoor powder room. So, who sold this modern family home?
The property previously belonged to numerous celebs, including Gwen Stefani and Robert Pattinson. But Leo bought the place from Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who is best known for his role as Mitchell Pritchett in the popular sitcom Modern Family.
The actor lived in the home for almost a decade, buying it way back in 2013 for just shy of $4.6 million (£3.4m). He went on to buy a brand-new, ultra-modern mansion in Encino, paying $8.7 million (£6.4m) for the privilege.
With a collection of homes worth an estimated $150 million (£110m), Oprah Winfrey is the queen of property, as well as talk shows. Spending her days in her Promised Land estate in California, she also owns a compound in Hawaii and a ski chalet in Colorado.
However, in 2019, she expanded her collection even further with another home in Montecito, which she bought from a legendary American actor. Or should that be dude?
Oprah acquired her Promised Land residence in 2001 and ever since has been slowly buying up surrounding parcels of land to expand her estate, including a 23-acre (9.3ha) equestrian spread designed by Cliff May. She now apparently owns nearly 70 contiguous acres (28ha).
This property is just one of the neighbouring homes she’s bought to create her huge compound. According to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, the four-acre (1.6ha) Spanish Revival–style residence set the talk show host back $6.9 million (£5m).
The 3,517-square-foot (327sqm) pad was originally built in 1919 by architect James Osborne Craig, but thanks to a sensitive restoration, it is now a truly stylish modern home.
Many of the rooms boast high vaulted ceilings, fresh white walls, statement fireplaces, and extensive glazing. There’s a gorgeous family room, a quartz kitchen, two bedrooms, and three bathrooms.
The master bedroom is one of the finest spaces in the house and features an open-beamed ceiling, large bay window, French doors, and a striking beehive-style fireplace.
Heading outside, the Spanish-inspired estate features a pool and spa area, surrounded by a red-brick terrace. Behind that sits a separate carriage house that has previously been used as an art studio. There's even a pool house. So, who waved goodbye to this place?
Ever the savvy buyer, Oprah snapped up the home from Hollywood legend Jeff Bridges, but not before she waited for the price to be knocked down from $7.5 million (£5.5m) to $6.9 million (£5m). That's exactly the same price Bridges forked out for it in 2014!
In recent years, Bridges has allegedly been downsizing his property portfolio, also selling off his 20-acre (8.1ha) Tuscan-style vineyard and some parcels of land in Malibu.
Any real estate fan will know that Kim Kardashian is no stranger to buying and selling homes. From Hidden Hills to Calabasas, the American media personality and businesswoman has owned some seriously envy-inducing residences over the years.
In fact, her houses are said to be worth well over $100 million (£73.6m), which is nothing when you consider the star has a net worth of approximately $1.7 billion (£1.3bn). In 2022, Kim made yet another purchase when she snapped up a beachfront home in Malibu.
Originally listed for an eye-watering $99.5 million (£73.3m), Kim paid $70.4 million (£51.8m) for the property, still making it the most expensive home sold in Malibu in 2022, according to Forbes. It was also the fourth-priciest home in California that year.
The two-storey, Mediterranean-style villa sits moments from the beach and is enclosed by around three acres (1.2ha) of land. The house itself spans 7,450 square feet (692sqm) and comes with everything a VIP could want or need.
Inside, you'll find chic, free-flowing living spaces that benefit from floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, which frame incredible views of the ocean. There's a great room that combines a lounge, den, dining zone, and designer kitchen, as well as four bedrooms.
Unsurprisingly, the master suite is a dream come true, with its own private sitting area, dual spa-style bathrooms, and a walk-in closet. Kim is said to have now completed a lavish renovation of the home, too.
Yet it's really all about what's going on outside. With a gorgeous swimming pool, numerous outdoor decks, various ocean-view balconies, a private cabana, and a private pathway that leads down to a white sand beach, it's the ultimate abode for a billionaire.
A gym and a media room complete the villa. According to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, Kim's neighbours include the likes of Cher, Lady Gaga, and Leonardo DiCaprio. But which mega-star previously called the pad home?
Iconic supermodel Cindy Crawford once owned Kim's dreamy beachfront abode. She bought the place in 2015, along with her entrepreneur husband, Rande Gerber, paying $50.5 million (£38m). However, the couple offloaded it at a $5.5 million (£4m) loss in 2018.
Cindy went on to build her dream home in Malibu, spending four years and $10 million (£7.4m) on the project.
