Sat high on a hilltop in Queensland, Australia, this glass house has been completely renovated by award-winning architect Charles Wright. Boasting floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies with breathtaking views on every level, the three-bedroom house is tropical living at its best.

The main living area is open-plan with a gourmet kitchen towards the back. Decked out with marble countertops, gloss cabinets and finished off with a luxurious chandelier, it's the ultimate cooking space. The living area, which uses accents of orange and brown to add splashes of colour, leads out to a spacious entertaining deck.

The expansive viewing deck looks out over Port Douglas Marina, the Coral Sea and the surrounding landscape. Easily accessed by bi-fold doors that have wooden blinds for keeping the sun out, they're perfect for integrating the inside and outside.

The pool level, which is on the lower ground floor, has guest accommodation plus a large living space, office and bathroom. There's also an outdoor kitchen that leads onto another large entertainment deck that runs alongside the inviting pool.

This remarkable glass house is located in San Diego, California, and it has some pretty A-list residents. Alicia Keys and husband Kasseem Dean (Swizz Beatz) purchased this iconic California ‘Razor House’ in 2020. Originally on the market for $45 million (£34m), the star duo snatched up the architectural trophy property for $20.8 million (£15.8m).

Designed by Wallace E. Cunningham, the property took six years to construct and reportedly inspired Tony Stark’s modern mansion in Iron Man. Residing high above Torrey Pines State Reserve, the almost 11,000-square-foot glass house hosts six bedrooms, six bathrooms and a guest house.

Fitted out with floor-to-ceiling curved glass walls, almost every room affords uninterrupted views of the sky and sea beyond. According to Architectural Digest, Kasseem Dean had an image of Razor House as his phone’s screen saver for eight years, before the couple finally purchased it. We can't say we blame him!

Here you’ll find a two-storey, glass-fronted sitting room featuring a curved floating staircase. For more entertaining space, there’s also a home cinema, library and even a rooftop spa and barbecue so the VIP duo can host friends and family in style.

This German-made prefabricated home in Surrey, UK is described as a ‘timber and glass contemporary’ according to the listing. The striking glass building features swathes of glass fronting its Bauhaus-style design, with a dramatic black frame. 

Set within woodlands, the stunning package home is reportedly one of over 200 Huf Hauses found across the UK. Inside, the home is airy and bathed in natural light. A cosy wood-burning stove in the living room creates a homely feel in the heart of this modern masterpiece.

 The 5,387-square-feet open-plan living space is also home to a gym and a sauna on the lower ground level, for workouts with a view. Remarkably, the five-bedroom glass house is solar-powered and even features a rainwater-harvesting system.

Offering vaulted ceilings, multiple balconies and plentiful floor-to-ceiling glass walls, the unusual home is filled with interesting architectural features thanks to its black-beamed structure. Best of all, all that unobstructed glass allows the dazzling rural views beyond to do all the talking.

Built in 1985, this light-filled house perches high in the mountainside and is one of three residences developed by late owner and world-renowned architect Mickey Muennig. The Glass House is found within California's legendary Big Sur area, popular with famed writers and artists.

On the market for just less than $7 million (£5.3m) in 2022, the architect’s estate resides across just under 30 acres and features towering redwood and oak forests, a swimming pond and a private paved gate road, all overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Muennig lived here for over ten years after purchasing the 30-acre plot of land. He began by designing the 16-foot-diameter glass teepee, or glass house, where he lived before it became his studio. His initial aim was reportedly to study the effectiveness of passive solar heating within the glass structure, which he found to be more than satisfactory.

This striking modern home in Bridgehampton, New York, embraces indoor-outdoor living with its huge windows and doors that lead straight outside to the pool. A sensational seaside retreat, it offers 360-degree ocean views through its glass walls with exposed iron supports. 

The living area, which is on the first floor, has both a lounge area and a dining section which is broken up with a partition that houses a fireplace and hidden storage. The full-height glass doors open out onto the rear deck, leading to the infinity-edge pool.

This next striking minimalist glass house manages to blend beautifully into the British countryside in the floral surrounds of Cambridgeshire, UK. It is the third in a series of acclaimed single-storey houses designed by renowned architect, Jonathan Ellis-Miller.

Nestled in the village of West Wratting, the architect’s design takes inspiration from the Californian Case Study houses, with geometric architecture, streamlined glass walls stretching out through every room and 2,310-square-feet of beautifully designed open-plan living.

Light pours into this stunning living room, which features floor-to-ceiling glass panels and streamlined mid-century furnishings. The floor plan is flexible depending on your needs, with pocket doors expanding and contracting the rooms at the residents' whim. 

The structure is made from glass and a white galvanised steel frame that cantilevers just above the ground, almost floating amongst the foliage and wildflowers. The house is fitted with air source heat pumps and passive solar design techniques, in keeping with advancements in eco technologies.

Perched high in the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains and surrounded by the peaceful setting of Toro Canyon Park, this 6,000-square-foot glass property in California was designed by award-winning architect Andy Neumann.

Built in 2010, the inconspicuous glass walls were chosen to highlight the amazing natural surroundings. Inside, the open-plan living area has a low-key kitchen and living area that uses natural decoration and colours to blend in with the outside palette.

The stunning dining area sits in a prime position surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and doors. With these amazing views over the ocean, it's the perfect place to hold a dinner party.

This iconic Canadian house, which was built in 1988 by Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, is definitely a show-stopping piece of real estate. Made from glass and bent steel, the house was custom-built for the previous owner and is truly unique in its design.
