Spiritual encounters

Located in the small town of Burrillville, the home is the perfect buy for a paranormal fan, but it’s not for those easily scared as it comes with no end of ghostly goings-on. The Wall Street Journal reported that the current owners, Jenn and Cory Heinzen, who snapped up the home back in 2019 for $439,000 (£320k), have encountered spirits whilst living in the home.
Ghostly goings-on

After buying it, the couple spent their first four months in the creepy property keeping to one downstairs room in order to allow the spirits to get used to their presence. However, they say they still received a ghostly welcome from a dark figure that peeked at them from the room's doorway.
Steeped in spooky history

Built in 1836, the three-bedroom farmhouse may look rustic and quaint but it has a long, spooky history that’s in keeping with its starring cinematic appearance. Rumoured to be haunted by the presence of Bathsheba Sherman, who resided in the property in the 1800s, the chilling stories that have emerged from the house have inspired dozens of books and movies.
The Conjuring

However, the most famous of those stories is that of the Perron family, who lived in the farmhouse in the 1970s. The family of seven noticed ghostly goings-on such as beds shaking and a broom moving by itself. The family brought in paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in 1973, who reportedly witnessed the terrifying events that inspired the hit film.
Could you live in this creepy cabin?

Currently on the market, the daring buyer will have access to over eight acres of land and 3,100 square feet of living space. On the lower floor sits the living room complete with a fireplace, a rustic kitchen, a library and a spacious dining area. Without the ghostly spectres, it could almost be mistaken for a normal family home.
A social media sensation

With paranormal happenings in the house a regular occurrence, the current owners host group events and overnight bookings for avid ghost-hunters. Their daughter, Maddie, also regularly takes to TikTok to tell spooky stories about ghosts, including the tale of a figure in a veil and skirt said to haunt the property.
Creepy decorations

Packed with rustic charm, the interior boasts wood-beamed ceilings, original fireplaces and wide-plank wooden floors. You'd be forgiven for thinking this haunted house is a typical rural residence, however, with unusual markings and symbols etched on the wall of this hallway, it's clear that this dwelling is far from ordinary.
Living in a house of horrors

Although The Conjuring wasn't actually filmed in the house, the listing photos would give any prospective buyer chills. From the coal-stained fireplaces to the carefully placed dolls that are reminiscent of the Annabelle doll from the creepy flick, it'll send shivers down your spine.
Searching for a brave buyer

A warren of spooky spots and sinister nooks, the 19th-century house is certainly a one-of-a-kind piece of real estate. The Henizens hope the new owner will take over their paranormal B&B business and continue to share the house with ghost-chasers and horror film enthusiasts. We can't wait to see who snaps up the $1.2 million (£877k) spread!

The Kate Shepard House, Alabama, USA: $995,000 (£722k)

Seemingly little has changed over the years in this regal living room, with its sash windows and carved wooden hearth surround. The home's current resident, Wendy James, who has owned the property for 18 years, told local TV station WKRG News 5 that she and her husband share the house with a spectral visitor. Over the years, several guests have asked about the little girl running around the hallways, though no such child lives in the house.

Theories abound as to who the little girl might be. Kate Shepard, the home's namesake, ran a school from the house for some 30 or 40 years until her passing in 1952, so perhaps the ghost could be a former student. Guests staying in Kate's sister Isabel's room have also reported seeing the apparitions – Isabel passed away in the house but maybe she wasn't quite ready to leave. Whatever the case, these ghostly visitors are said to be benevolent guests so there's not much cause for concern.
