In 1966, five years after taking control of McDonald's, Ray and his then-wife, Jane, purchased this ranch and turned it into the headquarters for McDonald's. It became a corporate retreat and a research facility for new recipes.
The estate's most famous feature is the grand, circular home that sits in the heart of the ranch. It was built in the early 1970s and named the ‘J and R Double Arch Ranch', although many locals refer to it as 'the hamburger', due to its shape.
