Jennifer Lopez loves luxury houses: J.Lo's amazing property portfolio will blow you away
J.Lo's homes: from the Bronx to Bel Air...

Jennifer Lopez has come a long way since her childhood in the Bronx. With a successful career spanning three decades, it's no surprise that the singer and actress has built up a huge property portfolio over the years. Now, having married her old flame, Ben Affleck in July 2022, J.Lo has walked away from her $43 million (£34m) family home in Bel Air. But have they finally found their forever home together? Click or scroll on to find out where they'll be living and to see more from her collection of spectacular houses...
Where does J.Lo live?

Having worked up from a small home in the Bronx to her first mansion in Beverly Hills, Jennifer Lopez owns an incredible roster of high-end real estate despite her humble start, including a mega-mansion in Miami, a small cosy Encino cottage and her Bel Air family home. But she wasn't born into such palatial property...
Jenny from the block

A world away from the glitz and glamour that surrounds her today, Jennifer Lynn Lopez was born on 24th July 1969. The middle child of three sisters, the family lived in Castle Hill, a residential neighbourhood in the Bronx, New York. J.Lo's childhood home was a tiny apartment, but the Lopez clan soon upsized into a place big enough for their growing family.
Where is J.Lo from?

The family of five moved into this two-storey house on Blackrock Avenue in the Bronx. J.Lo's father, David Lopez, worked as a computer technician and her mother, Guadalupe, was a homemaker, so buying a house this size was a big achievement for the family. J-Lo is famously proud of her roots and has referenced them throughout her career, most notably in her hit song 'Jenny from the Block'. The house was last on the market in 2009 and sold for an estimated $439,000 (£350k).
Where did J.Lo grow up?

The 1,500-square-foot house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Growing up, Jennifer shared a room with her two sisters, Lynda and Leslie, so had very little private space of her own. Downstairs, the kitchen and living room were cosy and had everything that the family could need.
Jennifer Lopez's acting debut

While still living in Blackrock Avenue, J.Lo started singing and dancing lessons at the age of five. She excelled in the performing arts during her final year of high school, where she heard about a film casting for production My Little Girl. She made her acting debut as Myra in the 1986 movie. After working on the film, she joined a dance college in Manhattan at the age of 18.
Growing up in New York

J.Lo moved out of her parents' Bronx home when she was 18 and was effectively homeless; she had no permanent base for a few months. Determined to try dance full-time, she slept on the sofa of her dance studio and the Ballet Hispánico centre in the Upper West Side. A few months later she landed her first gig, a dancing job that would take her to Europe.
J.Lo's big break

On her return in the early 1990s, she threw herself into auditions and got her first big break when she was picked to be a 'Fly Girl' dancer in season three of American comedy In Living Color. Finally getting her chance in the spotlight, the soon-to-be star moved to Los Angeles. Between 1991 and 1996, she landed various high-profile backing dancer spots with huge pop acts like New Kids On The Block and Janet Jackson.
Inspired by the Bronx

From her 1997 star turn in Latin biopic Selena to her first major Hollywood role opposite Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson in Money Train, J.Lo's acting career was going from strength to strength. It was during this time that she also cut her first demo, in Spanish, which caught the ear of Tommy Mottola at Sony Music. In 1999, J.Lo finally got her first hit with 'If You Had My Love' and her debut album On the 6, inspired by the number six subway line in New York City, which the star used to travel on from the Bronx.
J.Lo's first mansion

With her first number-one single and album under her belt, J.Lo was finally bringing home the bacon. In 2000, she invested in her first-ever luxury home—the beginning of her huge property portfolio. Located in a private gated community called The Summit, the seven-bedroom home overlooks Beverly Hills and Studio City. The star splashed out $4.3 million (£3.4m) on the exclusive home but as with many things in her amazing career, the gamble really paid off...
J.Lo's first mansion

For a first home, it really takes some beating. The main house has 15,000 square feet of living space with 11 bedrooms and its very own theatre. Lopez put the home on the market in 2004 and sold it to nightclub owner Sam Nazarian for $12.5 million (£9.9m), making a hefty profit.
J.Lo's first mansion

Today, the interiors are a little different from J.Lo's tastes: singer Gwen Stefani bought the house and gave it a refit, overhauling the interiors in 2006, transforming it into a unique celebrity property. Maximalist decorator Kelly Wearstler took charge of the design, which shows off black and white striped walls in this glamorous kitchen.

The grounds include a large pool and spa, a tennis court, a guesthouse with its very own gym and a large outdoor living space complete with sofas, fireplace and exterior kitchen. In fact, J.Lo loved the grounds so much, she chose it as the location for her wedding to Marc Anthony in June 2004.
J.Lo's Miami beachfront retreat

After the continued success of her first album, J.Lo went on to purchase a second luxury home in 2002: this beachfront mansion in Miami for an undisclosed amount. The Spanish-style home is situated on just over 1.2 acres of land, peppered with manicured gardens and swaying palm trees.

As well as its large formal rooms, balconies and terraces, the home has seven bedrooms and 13 bathrooms. It also has a lift and a spiral stairwell featuring a wrought-iron banister. This relaxed living space has comfortable sofas, a stone floor and is much more in line with J.Lo's effortless style and preferred neutral palette.

The house isn't short of extra amenities either and has a theatre, wine cellar and a water purifier for the whole house. The grand formal dining room looks out over the grounds through arched windows and has a medieval-style chandelier hanging over the table.

Upstairs, the master bedroom alone measures 1,000 square feet. Comprising three bedrooms knocked into one, the suite has a terrace, gym, office and an ensuite bathroom. She only owned this house for three years, selling up in 2005 for $40 million (£32m). Nevertheless, it's thought that the property held a special place in her heart—it was where she purportedly retreated to after her incredibly public breakup with actor Ben Affleck.

The spacious kitchen is decorated in neutral colours much like the rest of the house and has a large kitchen island and exposed beams. Heading outside, the idyllic home has a 60-foot-long swimming pool and spa, a coral stone deck, a cabana and an incredible outdoor kitchen. It also features a dock that has room for several large boats, as well as 200 feet of clear waterfront on Biscayne Bay.
J.Lo and Marc Anthony's Long Island estate

Before tying the knot with J.Lo, Marc Anthony purchased this Georgian-style brick mansion in Brookeville, Long Island in late 2000 for $3.7 million (£2.9m). J.Lo moved in after the wedding and in 2008, she bought a second house across the street for just over $2 million (£1.6m). The couple hired interior designer Thom Filicia to makeover the interiors of the 10,500-square-foot mansion, which offers 10 bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms. When their twins were born in 2008, the stars decided to raise them there for the foreseeable future.

Outside, the estate is dotted with cedar, beech and cypress trees and features a bluestone terrace that overlooks the swimming pool, tennis courts and a Colonial-style guesthouse.

The house isn't short of a few luxuries and even includes this fully equipped cinema and a recording studio. The main living spaces include a vast reception room that spans the full width of the mansion, a wood-panelled library, a study and a sunroom. The eat-in kitchen with its slab marble worktops and a double-wide centre island was perfect for the family and many of the rooms feature lacquered oak floors and fireplaces.

Upstairs, there are five guest bedrooms and a fun four-bed bunkroom. The huge master suite features a marble bathroom with a fireplace, custom-fitted dressing rooms and an upper level with an office space and full-service beauty salon. Less than a year after their divorce in 2014, Marc Anthony put the home on the market for $12 million (£9.5m), eventually selling in 2017 for $4.5 million (£3.6m).
J.Lo's Hidden Hills estate

While still married to Marc Anthony, the Bronx-born superstar bought this three-acre estate in early 2010 for $8.2 million (£6.5m). The sprawling mansion comprises two huge buildings, which include a spacious main house and an entertainment pavilion linked by an interior bridge, making it the perfect party pad.
J.Lo's Hidden Hills estate

Built in 1987, the entrance of the main house opens into a double-height reception hall, which leads through to this formal living and dining room, both with wood-burning fireplaces. At the back of the home is the less formal family living area, which is more relaxed in its style. Still super-glam, it includes a huge kitchen and family room with a built-in wet bar.
J.Lo's Hidden Hills estate

Overall, the house has eight bedrooms, three on the main level, plus four more in the north wing, with each including an ensuite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. The celeb-worthy master suite occupies the entire upper floor in the south wing and features a mirrored four-poster bed, a sitting room with a corner fireplace, a private terrace and a pair of walk-in wardrobes.

One of the closets features floor-to-ceiling mirrors and a dressing platform, perfect for the star to get ready for her red carpet events. It also has a dressing table and a mannequin where J.Lo showcased the iconic green Versace dress that she wore to the 42nd Grammy Awards ceremony.

Outside, the manicured grounds include a resort-style swimming pool, a play area and an outdoor lounge. The garage has space for up to eight cars, with room for 15 more in the court. In January 2015, the star put the home on the market for $17 million (£13.5m) and eventually sold it in March 2017 for $10 million (£8m).
J.Lo's New York penthouse

After divorcing Marc Anthony in 2014, J.Lo went on a bit of a real estate shopping spree, buying this mind-blowing penthouse in Manhattan, New York towards the end of 2014 for just over $20 million (£16m). The generous 6,500-square-foot suite occupies the entire top floor of The Whitman and has a private elevator.

The main living space features real oak floorboards and 12-foot-tall ceilings. The spectacular lounge is airy and bright with a skylight and three French doors that lead outside to a southern-facing terrace over Madison Square Park.

Spread over two floors, the home has 15 rooms and includes several informal sitting areas for kicking back in. At the centre of the layout is the open-plan kitchen and dining area, which features white gloss cabinets, a marble-topped central island and a snack bar.

Offering a total of four bedrooms, the master suite is accessed by a separate stairway that's shared with the media lounge and includes two sets of French doors that lead out onto a huge terrace. There's also a private dressing room and two ensuite bathrooms, one of which has a crystal chandelier and includes a two-person soaking tub in the centre.
J.Lo's New York penthouse

Unusually for New York, the home has 3,000 square feet of outdoor space, encompassing several terraces and even a putting green. The monthly costs for the building, which was built in 1924, sit at roughly $20,000 (£15.9k). The star looked to part with the penthouse in October 2017 for $27 million (£21.5m), the same time she and her now ex-partner Alex Rodriguez were reported to be house hunting. It was then relisted in March 2019 for $25 million (£20m) but has since been mysteriously removed from the market.
J.Lo's Bel Air mansion

In August 2016, the singer bought an incredible French-inspired mansion in Bel Air for $28 million (£22.3m). According to Vanity Fair, she purchased the property with her young twins in mind. Built in 1940, the nearly 13,000-square-foot home was designed by architect Samuel Marx. However, after toying with the idea of renovating the home with new hubby Ben Affleck, J.Lo instead decided to place the property back on the market for a whopping $42.5 million (£33.9m), which dropped to $39.9 million (£30m) in April 2023.

The home is perfect for entertaining and comes with some jaw-dropping extras, including its very own pub, two guest cottages and an amphitheatre with seating for 100 people. The interiors are informal and relaxed with high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and exposed beams.

As well as extensive features for entertaining, the home offers plenty of living spaces where the young family has been able to relax, with a wood-panelled library, a 30-seat screening room, a massage room for some downtime and multiple offices for Jenny to have run her multimillion-dollar business empire.

The light-filled kitchen features atrium windows, a stone fireplace and a breakfast area, plus a long central island, which is a great social space for family mealtimes. Overall, there are nine beautiful bedrooms, including the master bedroom, which has an impressive fireplace, outdoor terrace and canopy bed.

With plenty to keep J.Lo's twins occupied, the back garden is full of fun activities and features, from mini-golf to an infinity-edge swimming pool and a vegetable garden. We're also sure the family will have made the most of the games room when the weather has taken a turn for the worst. No doubt some A-lister with deep pockets will come along and snap up this spectacular home in no time...
J.Lo's New York apartment

In March 2018, J.Lo and Alex Rodriguez purchased a condo on the 36th floor of this prestigious high-rise building, known as 432 Park Avenue, for $15.3 million (£12.2m). Offering 4,000 square feet, it's quite a bit smaller than the superstar's other properties, but its swanky zip code makes it a great investment.

The entrance to the three-bedroom condo is accessed by a private lift, which opens out onto a dramatic black entry space and leads through to the penthouse's open-plan living area.

The home isn't short of entertaining space and features a cosy media lounge just off the entrance hall. Elsewhere, the master suite comprises a 20-foot walk-in wardrobe and a luxury bathroom with heated marble floors. Less than a year after purchasing the sprawling pad, the former couple put it back on the market and sold it for $17.5 million (£14m)—making over $2 million (£1.6m) on the deal. Talk about property flippers!
J.Lo's Malibu mansion

J.Lo and A-Rod then snapped up this Malibu beach house for a cool $6.6 million (£5.3m) in January 2019. The 4,404-square-foot home previously belonged to Entourage actor Jeremy Piven, who according to Realtor, spent $1.5 million (£1.2m) on renovations to the home.

The now-separated couple listed the home in July 2020 for just under $8 million (£6.4m) and went on to sell it for $6.8 million (£5.4m) in September the same year.
J.Lo's Encino cottage

Just before they put their beach house on the market, J.Lo and Alex snapped up this snug home in the San Fernando Valley celebrity hotspot of Encino for $1.4 million (£1.1m). At 2,200 square feet, the mid-century, ranch-style property is a modest new addition to the star's flashy property portfolio.

The stylish home, which was built in 1948, has been recently renovated to include lots of modern amenities and designer finishes. Outside, the corner-lot property has a small covered patio with a hidden 200-square-foot home office that's tucked away behind the garage, perfect for when Jenny has to work from home. In May 2021, the couple went their separate ways but officially still jointly own the property—it's still unclear who it might pass to in the wake of their split two years on.
J.Lo's Star Island estate

Not long after snapping up their cosy Encino home, J.Lo and A-Rod also splashed out on this pricey, lavish estate on Miami's celebrity-packed Star Island. Listed for $40 million (£32m), they got a slight discount, paying $32.5 million (£26m) for the huge 14,800-square-foot home.

Encompassing a white stucco mansion and guesthouse, the waterfront estate sits on almost one acre of land and is just as opulent inside as it is outside. The home boasts Venetian plaster walls, grand fireplaces and an elevator, as well as a decadent mix of stone and wood floors. The formal living and dining rooms sit alongside a panelled lounge, which offers the ultimate relaxing space.

Packed with top-of-the-range amenities, the home includes a marble wet bar and a climate-controlled wine cellar that's tucked away behind wrought-iron doors. With 10 bedrooms and 10-and-a-half bathrooms spread over the main house and guesthouse, the compound has plenty of square footage for J.Lo and her family to stretch out. As with the Encino cottage, it's not yet been revealed who will take ownership of the multimillion-dollar property after the couple's split.

Going their separate ways

In April 2021, J.Lo and her then-fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, who had been together for four years, finally split for good after months of rumours. It was thought that the star was spending time in her Miami mansion while dealing with the public breakup. Not long after, she rekindled her romance with her old flame Ben Affleck and the couple were spotted house-hunting together...

J.Lo and Ben Affleck's dating rental

The couple were spotted on the balcony of an oceanfront mega-mansion in the ultra-exclusive neighbourhood of Miami Beach in May 2021. Clearly making time for each other, the pair were photographed on holiday in Montana, The Hamptons and LA, as well as cosying up in this $130,000 (£104k) a month luxury pad while the 'Love Don't Cost A Thing' singer was working in Miami.

According to the listing, the 10,000-square-foot house has a grand entrance leading through to the all-white expansive living room, which features three double glass doors that lead outside to the grounds. The property was most recently snapped up by jewellery designer Paul Morelli in April for $17.5 million (£14m) but it appears that he decided to rent it out to the new power couple.

The house has 11 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, which are just gorgeously finished and plush. The home sits on a huge 27,000-square-foot lot and with a barbecue area, swimming pool and Jacuzzi as well as a dock and boat lift, there's nothing more the couple would ever need. The pad also comes with a separate guesthouse, a gym, an office and three garages.
J.Lo and Ben go into escrow on their first shared home

It seemed that J.Lo and Ben Affleck were putting down roots together, as they were reportedly in escrow on this incredible LA mega-mansion, early on in 2022. According to TMZ, who broke the story, the couple "sealed the deal in the mid-$50 million (£39.9m) range". Unfortunately, their escrow deal fell through in April 2022 according to TMZ. While it's not clear exactly what triggered the collapse, the couple clearly had their reservations on the property. So it was back to perusing palatial properties for the pair...
J.Lo and Ben view Spelling Manor

Shortly after the deal fell through on the $55 million (£43.8m) Bel Air estate, the newly engaged duo were seen out and about house-hunting in Beverly Hills and Bel Air and according to The Daily Mail, they took a tour of one of LA’s grandest homes, the famous Spelling Manor. The former home of Aaron Spelling and his wife Candy, hit the market in February 2022 for $165 million (£131.6m). Nothing but the best for the VIPs, this particular Holmby Hills residence is larger than the White House and has 123 rooms and is in a star-studded neighbourhood including Kylie Jenner and Rod Stewart.
James Packer's home: permanent or rental?

In June 2022, TMZ reported that the couple had potentially set their sights on an expansive, seven-bedroom estate in Beverly Hills. Owned by Mariah Carey’s ex-fiancé and Australian billionaire, James Packer, the impressive seven-bed property was originally snapped up by Packer in 2018 for $66 million (£52.7m) and was once home to another celebrity couple—Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman.
James Packer's home: permanent or rental?

Although never formally listed, four moving trucks belonging to J.Lo and Affleck gathered outside the Packer pad in June. With multiple guesthouses alongside the seven-bedroom main house, there is also a standalone entertainment building that houses a screening room, wine room, lounge and cigar room, according to The Wall Street Journal. Despite rumours that they were buying the house, it turns out the newlyweds are simply renting the expansive estate and have other plans. More to be revealed later...
J.Lo and Ben Affleck get married

After getting engaged in April 2022 for the second time since 2002, the couple finally married in July 2022 in an intimate Las Vegas wedding. Jennifer announced their marriage in her fan newsletter, On the J Lo with the heading “We did it”. The marriage licence filing shows that Lopez has taken the name Jennifer Affleck. Her hairdresser, Chris Appleton, shared a video of an excited bride-to-be Jennifer, in an elegant white gown, moments before the ceremony, on his Instagram.
A Parisian honeymoon

After tying the knot in Las Vegas, 20 years after their first engagement was called off, Bennifer jetted off on a romantic Parisian honeymoon, complete with paparazzi and three of their kids in tow. Leaving the marital home plans on the back burner, the group celebrated Jennifer’s 53rd birthday at the new Christian Dior restaurant, commenting in her newsletter: “It was the best possible wedding we could have imagined.”
Ben Affleck's Hampton Island house

The newlyweds didn’t forget about their friends and family once back in the US, and celebrated their nuptials—as well as Ben’s 50th birthday—just a month later at Affleck’s remarkable estate on Georgia's Hampton Island. The three-day extravaganza took place at the actor’s Riceboro plantation-style home, which sits on 87 acres of land overlooking the North Newport River and is considered one of the jewels along the coast of Georgia.

Jennifer revealed on her Instagram that the home had been transformed for the wedding. The designer was her close friend Rachel Ashwell, who did the original interiors at the property 20 years previous when Jennifer and Ben were first dating. The cosy lounge has white fabric sofas, a soft pink rug and was decked out with blush pink blooms, touches that are in keeping with Rachel's signature shabby chic style.

The Good Will Hunting actor bought the property in 2003 for $7.1 million (£5.7m). The 6,000-square-foot Greek Revival ‘Big House’, as it is known, is typical of a classic southern mansion with its pinewood flooring and traditional windows, which flood the high-ceilinged rooms with light. Key features of the breakfast/dining room are the painted floorboards, pretty fabric-covered chairs and exquisite French antique chandelier.

The faded colour palette creates an authentic period vibe in one of the upstairs bedrooms with its floral bedcover, upholstered loveseat and antique rug. The laid-back style is more low-key than we have come to expect from the glamourous star, although she is keen to point out on her Instagram: “@OfficalShabbyChic is my favorite cozy style for my homes.”
Ben Affleck's Hampton Island house

As well as the ‘Big House’, the estate includes the ‘Summer Cottage’, used for entertaining, and a 10,000-foot property, called ‘The Oyster House’, which has five bedrooms and a wraparound balcony. More open-plan and rustic in style than the main house, it features wood-panelled walls, which Ashwell enhanced with an array of vintage plates and mirrors and her trademark cosy upholstered sofas.
Ben Affleck sells his bachelor pad

Speaking of Affleck’s properties, his Pacific Palisades mansion sold for $28.5 million (£22.7m) in October 2022. Originally purchased for $19.3 million (£15.4m) in 2018, the Hollywood star has made a sizeable profit on the home which became the third-priciest sale in the area so far in 2022 according to Architectural Digest.

The traditional-style mansion boasts seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, residing across 13,000 square-foot of bright and sunny living space. Referred to as his bachelor pad, having purchased it after splitting with Jennifer Garner, the actor put it on the market straight after his marriage to Jennifer Lopez in Summer 2022.

Inside you’ll find beams of natural light spilling through bay windows that illuminate whitewashed walls and beamed ceilings across three storeys that host a bounty of luxury amenities including a wellness room, home cinema, wine cellar, gym, recreation room and wet bar. A foyer with a curved staircase beckons you up towards a primary suite that boasts an upper-level deck which overlooks the immaculate backyard.

The half-acre estate also features a covered loggia complete with cosy fireplace and lounge furniture for admiring the views out across the gardens where the A-Listers and VIP guests can stay private behind towering Ficus trees and thick hedges, which blocks the space from view.

Elsewhere on the grounds, you’ll also find a large swimming pool with an attached waterslide and hot tub, as well as a fully equipped guesthouse. We’re sure the bachelor pad was plenty of fun for Ben’s single years, but where will the loved-up hubby live now with his new spouse Jennifer?
The $64m Pacific Palisades mansion

After putting Jen's long-term Bel Air estate on the market for $42 million (£33.5m) in February 2023, Bennifer were ready to stop renting James Packer's mansion in Beverly Hills and finally find their own long-term love nest—after a lot of high-profile back-and-forth on the property market. This particular Pacific Palisades haven caught their eye. Belonging to one of the city's wealthiest families, Michael Milken’s son Gregory owned the eight-bedroom, ten-bathroom estate which sits within the Palisades Riviera area of Pacific Palisades.
The $64m Pacific Palisades mansion

J.Lo and Ben must have fallen hard for this newly listed house—making a splash when it hit the market at $64 million (£51m) in February 2023—because they pulled out of escrow on another $34.5 million (£27.5m) Pacific Palisades mansion nearby to pursue it. There would certainly have been enough room for their conjoined family of seven, with a six-bed main house and two-bedroom guest house and it has been described as having “the most incredible views of any home on the west side”.
The $64m Pacific Palisades mansion

Strolling outside of the 13,000 square-foot main house, the 8,000-plus-square-foot backyard beckons you towards a whopping resort-style pool set against the well-kept sweep of lawn framed by stripy umbrellas and sun loungers. Jen and Ben’s potential parcel sits proudly elevated, ready to show off its canyon, city and mountain views to the many guests and celebrity visitors sure to come. But it wasn't meant to be, with the pair backing out of the deal and going for something even bigger...
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's Beverly Hills forever home?

If there’s one thing Bennifer know the meaning of, it’s that good things come to those who wait. Finally, after two years of searching and at least two escrow back-outs, the noughties lovebirds have settled on their forever home in Beverly Hills, California. TMZ were the first to report that Lopez and Affleck have officially bought the sprawling LA estate for $60.8 million (£48.7m).
