Martha Stewart

Domestic goddess and America’s sweetheart, Martha Stewart has had an illustrious career in all thing house and garden since the 1980s. It stands to reason, then, that her own home is an impressive 153-acre farmstead that she’s beautifully maintained since purchasing in 2000 for $15.2 million (£13.1m).
Martha Stewart's idyllic Bedford farm, New York, USA

Dating back to 1700s, the historic and sprawling Cantitoe Corners estate in Katonah, New York boasts a wealth of lush gardens, greenhouses and horse stables across the grounds. This imposing building may look like the main house, but is actually Martha’s so-called 'Summer House' and, according to Martha’s Instagram post, is "used primarily as my library for my book collection". Originally built in 1776, Martha "rebuilt it completely on the old foundation in 2001".

According to House Digest, the three-storey, 12-bedroom main residence is referred to as 'Winter House' by Martha and her staff, complete with an impressive chef-style kitchen (of course), porch room, gym, as well as a dining room and specified areas for gathering. Another view of the estate shows the so-called ‘White Garden’ abloom with linden allees, topiary viburnum and species peonies. Outside, an expansive dining table stretches out awaiting Martha’s guests for an alfresco lunch we assume was particularly delicious from the hostess with the mostest. Guests could enjoy admiring the grounds, full with daffodil fields, a sprawling vegetable garden, peony garden with reportedly 200 different plant varieties and plentiful wildlife.

According to the New York Times, Martha enlisted the help of renowned architect Allan Greenber to create a new kind of farm, with horses, cutting gardens and henhouses. Alongside grazing paddocks for her five Fresian horses seen here, the 153-acre farm also houses multiple cats and dogs, chinchillas, canaries, and parakeets as well as donkeys, sheep, goats, chickens, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, quail, peacocks, and homing pigeons, with birdhouses for birds, owls, and bats. Martha’s menagerie has even been a Certified Wildlife Habitat with the National Wildlife Federation since 2007.
Kanye West

Controversial rapper and producer, Kanye West is no stranger to a media circus and after a very public divorce from infamous influencer, Kim Kardashian, it’s no surprise Ye would be drawn to a remote ranch to retreat to. Kanye West's rural ranch, Wyoming, USA

Reportedly purchased for around $8 million (£6.92m), the 3,888-acre compound was listed for $11 million (£9.5m) in October 2021, before being removed once more in August 2022 after Kim and boyfriend Pete Davidson broke up, as reported by the New York Post. Renamed West Lake Ranch and referred to as Yeezy Campus, the rural getaway boasts not one but two freshwater trophy lakes and fabulous vistas of the nearby Rocky Mountains.

Kanye reportedly installed a recording studio above the so-called ‘eating cabin’, enlisting the visionary eye of renowned Belgian architect Axel Vervoordt to help design his compound project. Vervoordt was previously brought in to help create Kanye and Kim’s Hidden Hills home in California, in all its minimalist church-like glory.

But that’s not all. The near 4,000-acre compound, sitting 50 miles from Yellowstone National Park, also boasts eight lodging units, a horse barn and corral alongside a go-kart track no less. Speaking to GQ after purchasing the parcels, West described his plans to create ‘dome dwellings’ for a project ‘the size of a spaceship'. Watch this space...

Stone and wood floors feature throughout the house, leading to bedrooms with porches and decks, where taxidermy and hanging antlers nod to the wildlife and hunting activities in the area. An extensive water treatment system, backup generator, huge solar display and attached greenhouse help prepare for off-grid dependability, popular with certain celebrities who like to stay prepared.

The master hosts a rugged fireplace accent wall to stay cosy in the winter, while a French window leads out onto a terrace for the warmer months. Here the actor may have enjoyed an alfresco coffee looking out on his acreage with its impressive mix of lush irrigated meadows, spectacular rock formations and wild wooded uplands. On and off the market since 2014, the ranch found its lucky buyer in February 2022 and sold at a cut price of $7 million (£6m).
Maria Sharapova

Legendary tennis player Maria Sharapova might hail from Nyagan, Russia, but she now resides on a stunning pastoral ranch in Santa Barbara, California. The Grand Slam superstar, who is reportedly worth $180 million (£155m), bought the property in October 2020 for $8.6 million (£7.4m) and it isn't difficult to understand why.
Maria Sharapova's pastoral ranch, California, USA

The sprawling estate can be found in the coastal neighbourhood of Summerland, high up in the Santa Barbara foothills, and is made up of four separate structures, each with one bedroom and a private backyard. The main Balinese-inspired house is totally zen and offers loft-like living spaces with beamed ceilings and walls of glass.

Every single one of the estate's buildings is meticulously presented, with gorgeous eclectic furnishings, roaring fireplaces and historic design elements. Yet the estate's grounds are really its main selling point. The garden spans nearly five acres and offers plenty of Instagram-worthy locations, including tranquil patios for sunrise yoga and sprawling lawns for sunbathing. Plus, from the home's hilltop perch, the sports icon can take in unforgettable views of the dazzling coastline and the Santa Ynez mountains. Bliss!
Michelle Pfeiffer

Have you ever wanted to peek inside Michelle Pfeiffer's home? Well now you can because the veteran actor and her husband, Ally McBeal producer David E. Kelley, recently sold their stunning equestrian estate in California. The A-list couple reportedly purchased the place, which can be found about 30 miles south of San Francisco, in 2004 for $12 million (£10.3m) and let it go in December 2019 for a cool $22 million (£19m) – how's that for appreciation?

The dreamy equestrian property can be found in an exclusive enclave in one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s wealthiest communities. In fact, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison is also said to have a house in the neighbourhood. The pad sits on almost nine acres of land and comes equipped with everything a VIP could need.

Plus the property comes complete with an apple orchard, three vegetable gardens, natural meadows, a fenced paddock and a historic octagonal barn with 10 horse stalls. We can certainly see why Pfeiffer and Kelley purchased the pad, but we can't imagine why they would want to let it go...

There's also a detached building that Star could transform into a fabulous home office, from which he could run his beauty empire. Every space is filled with natural light and boasts high ceilings, timber accents and sleek finishes.
Jeffree Star’s mountain ranch, Wyoming, USA

Unlike the social media icon's other houses in California, including the Hidden Hills château which he has reportedly just sold off, the Wyoming vacation retreat is relatively traditional and low-key. However, we're sure that given some time, Star will make it just as fabulous as his other properties!
Jackie Kennedy

Several years after her husband, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in Dallas, Jackie Kennedy purchased a stunning farm in Martha’s Vineyard, New England. The former first lady bought the 340-acre estate in 1979 for a reported $1 million (£864k) and built the main house and guesthouse in 1981.

In June 2019, the rural retreat was placed on the market by Jackie's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, with a whopping $65 million (£56m) price tag. With more than a mile of private Atlantic Ocean beachfront, two freshwater ponds, a vegetable garden and an idyllic blueberry patch, Red Gate Farm is certainly one for lovers of the great outdoors.

The five-bedroom Cape Cod-style house was designed by architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen and the interior is truly stunning. Spanning 6,456 square feet, it offers chic living spaces with a subtle nautical theme and a colour palette of cream, terracotta and blue.

The pad also offers five bathrooms, a kitchen and two offices, as well as plenty of lounge areas with views of the sea beyond. To top it off, there's even an outdoor deck where we're sure Jackie O spent many an evening watching the sun set.

Of course, the home's grounds are truly exceptional. There's a swimming pool, a tennis court, a fairytale treehouse where Jackie's grandchildren used to play, a bocce ball court and even private sand dunes. As far as luxurious celebrity homes go, this one is up there with the best of them.
Michael Bloomberg

In May 2020, billionaire businessman and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg purchased a reclusive ranch in Aspen, Colorado. Following his failed presidential campaign, which reportedly cost him more than $1 billion (£864m), Business Insider suggested, we're sure Bloomberg is enjoying spending some downtime here.
Michael Bloomberg’s reclusive ranch, Colorado, USA

The sprawling ranch can be found just under an hour from Aspen and set Bloomberg back an estimated $44.8 million (£38.7m) – and for good reason. The 4,600-acre estate comes with a 19,000-square-foot main house, a four-hole golf course, a swimming pool, tennis court, guest cabins and staff quarters.
Michael Bloomberg’s reclusive ranch, Colorado, USA

Known as Westlands, the ranch also boasts a private helipad and hangar so that Bloomberg can make a speedy escape whenever the need arises. The home dates back to 1991 and its interior spaces feature towering ceilings and plenty of characterful design touches such as exposed timber beams, stone fireplaces and elaborate antler chandeliers.

The main house comes with five bedrooms, a wine cellar, a movie theatre and an indoor hot tub overlooking the garden. Each of the bedrooms comes with exposed log rafters and large fireplaces, while the home's communal spaces are split into zones for unwinding and zones for entertaining.
Michael Bloomberg’s reclusive ranch, Colorado, USA

Outside, you'll find endless space, with no neighbours for miles. The ultimate billionaire bolthole, this isn't the only property that Bloomberg owns. In fact, he's said to have a mansion in Manhattan, a villa in Bermuda, and a townhouse in London. Unfortunately the secure ranch was broken into by an armed gunman in February 2022, who kidnapped a female member of staff whilst looking for one of Bloomberg's daughters according to the Independent.
Reese Witherspoon

Fans of Reese Witherspoon will already know that the Oscar-winning actor is somewhat of a real estate mogul. Over the years, the Big Little Lies star has snapped up her fair share of beautiful abodes, primarily living with her family in the Pacific Palisades areas of Los Angeles. However, in August 2019 the actor purchased a charming farmhouse above Zuma Beach in Malibu...
Reese Witherspoon's Malibu farmhouse, California, USA

Witherspoon reportedly paid $6.25 million (£5.4m) for the stylish estate, which sits on two pristine acres of land behind a set of secure gates. The farmhouse was built in 1949 and boasts light-filled, open-plan living spaces with plenty of rustic charm.
Reese Witherspoon's Malibu farmhouse, California, USA

Described by Variety as a "magazine-spread ready hobby farm", the property offers three bright and contemporary bedrooms, three vintage-inspired bathrooms and plenty of mid-century features, including beamed ceilings, brick fireplaces and timber-clad walls. Before Witherspoon snapped up the estate, it was previously used as a wedding venue.
Reese Witherspoon's Malibu farmhouse, California, USA

As well as the main farmhouse, the estate also comes with a guest barn, an art studio and a yoga room, plus a chic screening room with its very own wet bar. The property is also within easy walking distance of the coast, making it the perfect weekend spot for the family.

The home's attractive backyard is the perfect oasis in the heart of Malibu. Surrounded by 1,500-year-old sycamores, fruit trees and vegetable gardens, the grounds come complete with a firepit, outdoor lounges, a sprawling lawn and equestrian facilities. Yet, after a mere 16 months of ownership, Witherspoon bid farewell to Zuma Farms, selling it in an off-market deal for a reported $6.7 million (£5.8m).
Mike Markkula

If we were Mike Markkula, we'd probably have a smile on our faces too. The Apple co-founder is not only worth an estimated $1.2 billion (£1bn), but he is also the proud owner of a stunning (and sprawling) ranch in Carmel Valley, California...
Mike Markkula’s Carmel Valley ranch, California, USA

As one of the world's richest men, Markkula provided Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak with the seed money they needed to start Apple and he was the longest-serving board member in the company's history. The business mogul bought Rana Creek Ranch more than 35 years ago for an estimated $9 million (£7.78m) and has been looking to offload it since 2013.
Mike Markkula’s Carmel Valley ranch, California, USA

Initially, Markkula is said to have owned 8,000 acres of land in Carmel Valley, but he now owns a staggering 14,000 acres after slowly snapping up plots surrounding Rana Creek Ranch. The property first hit the market for just shy of $60 million (£51.8m) but failed to find a buyer. Then in May 2020, it was relisted for $37.5 million (£32.4m) and is currently available via Hall and Hall.
Mike Markkula’s Carmel Valley ranch, California, USA

Yet despite its crazy price tag, the 5,413-square-foot residence only offers one bedroom. There are three bathrooms though, alongside a lounge, kitchen and wet bar. Every space is traditional and light-filled, with white oak plank floors, large picture windows and vaulted ceilings. There's also a separate guesthouse for visiting friends and family. Markkula is said to have used the estate solely for family vacations, which makes it one of the world's most lavish holiday homes.
Mike Markkula’s Carmel Valley ranch, California, USA

Outside, you'll find two large barns, a covered pavilion, a greenhouse, a corral and a riding arena. The property also features a strong aquifer that feeds the seasonal creeks and ponds, making this estate perfect for those interested in using the land for agricultural purposes. There's even a 2,900-foot-long private runway and helipad for whenever you need to make a speedy getaway. If you've got the cash, then this dreamy ranch could soon be yours.
Joe Cocker

Known for his raspy voice, British rockstar Joe Cocker has journeyed a long way from his roots in the English city of Sheffield. In fact, a 240-acre estate in the heart of the Colorado mountains was the singer's long-time home. Known as Mad Dog Ranch, the Cockers commissioned the English Tudor-style home back in 1994 and lived there until the rocker's death in December 2014.
Joe Cocker's rural manor, Colorado, USA

Cocker and his wife Pam took inspiration for the house from their travels across Europe, building a palatial mansion surrounded by formal English gardens and the superb landscape of rural Colorado. Located in the town of Crawford, roughly two hours away from the ski slopes of Aspen, the property was originally meant to be a holiday spot for Cocker, but after his first winter in the home, he knew it was where he wanted to live.
Joe Cocker's rural manor, Colorado, USA

Other key features of the custom-built house include a working ranch, which features a seven-stall barn, a silo, turnouts, an outdoor arena and a one-acre swimming pond. According to The Star, in December 2017, the English-inspired ranch sold at auction for $3.9 million (£3.37m), which given its size and scale strikes us as quite the bargain.
Joe Cocker's rural manor, Colorado, USA

Spanning almost 16,000 square feet, Mad Dog Ranch offers eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and a stand-alone guest apartment. With three floors, the English-style manor also benefits from light-filled living areas and plenty of jaw-dropping home features that only money can buy, including a marble-clad 33-foot turretted foyer, a billiard room, a library, and a chef’s kitchen. Many of the living spaces also open up onto outdoor patios, where sweeping views of Needle Mountain can be enjoyed.
Joe Cocker's rural manor, Colorado, USA

Best known for his rendition of the Beatles’ hit 'With a Little Help from My Friends', Cocker's house is far from rock 'n' roll. Elegant and sophisticated, the property is defined by classical décor, antique furnishings and period features, such as timber-clad walls, marble floors and pretty fireplaces. The master suite even boasts a 13-foot vaulted ceiling, two bathrooms, a stone fireplace and a private balcony.
Jeff Bridges

Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges once owned a rather stylish ranch in Montecito, an exclusive celebrity hotspot in Santa Barbara. The Californian retreat dates back to 1919 and was designed by esteemed architect James Osborne Craig, making it something of a historic local landmark. An apt choice for the True Grit actor, the ranch is the perfect pad for anyone with a love of horses and the great outdoors.
Jeff Bridges' historic horse ranch, California, USA

The Spanish Revival house is charming and traditional in equal measure, with its white rendered exterior decorated with crawling vines. Inside, the property has bags of wow-factor following a comprehensive renovation carried out by the star in 2016. Blending original features with contemporary touches, the dwelling boasts hardwood floors, leaded windows and vaulted ceilings, while extensive glazing allows for uninterrupted views across the estate.
Jeff Bridges' historic horse ranch, California, USA

The single-storey pad provides two and a half bathrooms and three bedrooms, many of which are decorated with original fireplaces. The master suite is an oasis of calm with a seating area, an ensuite complete with a walk-in shower and a tub, as well as French doors that lead into the garden. Elsewhere, there's also a brand new kitchen with granite countertops and timber cabinets that match the cathedral-like ceiling.
Jeff Bridges' historic horse ranch, California, USA

The stucco-clad ranch also offers a stand-alone guesthouse, a 5,000-square-foot carriage house and gated equestrian facilities, complete with stables, an enclosure and a tack room. The estate's four acres of land are perfect for horse riding and also feature an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub, while the adjacent pool house has a bathroom, a changing area and a sauna. Positioned just a few miles from the beach, the property also has a butterfly garden and an orchard.
Jeff Bridges' historic horse ranch, California, USA

Yet Bridges isn't the only celebrity owner of this pad. In 2019, Oprah Winfrey purchased the Spanish Revival compound for $6.9 million (£5.9m). It's thought that the TV star had her eye on the estate since 2015 when she purchased the neighbouring 23-acre property known as Seamair Farm, which encompasses four houses and substantial equestrian facilities. Including her vast Promised Land compound, this means that Oprah's property portfolio now spans 70 adjacent acres of land within the same neighbourhood.
Sheryl Crow

Over in Tennessee, you can find a solar farm that was once owned by country-rock star Sheryl Crow. The extensive property lies in College Grove, one of the most exclusive areas of Nashville, and sits on around 152 stunning acres of land. Her rolling estate comes with an array of outbuildings and guesthouses, one of which offers 2,000 square feet of interior space, three bedrooms and a two-car garage.
Sheryl Crow's solar farm, Tennessee, USA

Known as Cross Creek Farm, the main house was constructed from brick and timber siding and is almost too big to be believed. Standing proud at over 10,000 square feet, it comes equipped with five bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Yet despite its size, the house also happens to be incredibly energy efficient thanks to an impressive solar power system that helps to power the property.
Sheryl Crow's solar farm, Tennessee, USA

Crow bought the palatial pad in 2006 and spent a lot of money renovating it. In 2014, she sold the house and 50 surrounding acres of land to ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill for $3.4 million (£2.9m). It's thought that Hill invested a considerable amount more on further improvements, before listing the estate in 2016 for $7.3 million (£6.3m). It sold in 2017 for a cut-price $5.5 million (£4.75m).
Sheryl Crow's solar farm, Tennessee, USA

Thanks to the complete overhaul, the three-storey house now boasts a stylish and contemporary interior, with elevator access to every floor. The property features sleek hardwood floors, striking light fixtures, traditional log-burning fireplaces, attractive architraves and rustic stonework. Some of the rooms also feature vaulted timber ceilings, while almost every space enjoys picturesque views across rolling fields.
Sheryl Crow's solar farm, Tennessee, USA

A ranch fit for a cowboy, the expansive pad benefits from a large covered outdoor riding arena and a 14-stall barn. Plus, with parking facilities for five cars, a swimming pool, outdoor deck, an alfresco dining area and a hot tub, the house would be ideal for anyone looking for a luxurious yet private oasis just a stone's throw from Nashville.
Steve McQueen

Once belonging to iconic Hollywood actor Steve McQueen, a 500-acre ranch can be found nestled on a secluded lot in Hailey, Idaho. The King of Cool bought the property after marrying his third wife, Barbara Minty. Yet just a few months after the couple moved in, McQueen passed away at the age of 50.
Steve McQueen's secluded ranch, Idaho, USA

Known officially as the Pioneer Moon Ranch, McQueen and Minty nicknamed the property the Crazy M Ranch. Last listed for $7.4 million (£6.39m) in 2013, the property has undergone numerous changes since McQueen's day. A separate two-bedroom log cabin was built on the estate in 1990, while a 1,700-square-foot entertainment annexe was added in 2010.
Steve McQueen's secluded ranch, Idaho, USA

Located in the foothills of the Pioneer Mountains, the ranch was once pared-back and rustic. Yet thanks to an extensive renovation, the pad is now contemporary and stylish, while still maintaining much of its traditional charm. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms, the main house offers just over 1,400 square feet of inside space and is decked out with natural timber walls, cathedral ceilings and authentic floor-to-ceiling stone fireplaces.
Steve McQueen's secluded ranch, Idaho, USA

As well as plenty of interior space, the relatively modest property includes numerous outdoor decks and balconies – the perfect spots to sit back and soak up the tranquil surrounding scenery. Plus, with over a mile of the Big Wood River flowing directly through the estate, along with free-roaming moose, elk and deer, this pad is definitely one for lovers of the great outdoors.
Steve McQueen's secluded ranch, Idaho, USA

The adjacent log cabin is a spacious home in its own right and comes complete with one bedroom, one and a half bathrooms, a cosy living room, a dining zone, a compact kitchen and a library. As with the main house, the stand-alone retreat offers plenty of rustic features, including an original fireplace, natural timber floors, exposed log walls and a dramatic soaring ceiling. The perfect choice for a high-profile VIP seeking space, scenery and seclusion, it's no wonder The Great Escape actor fell in love with Pioneer Moon Ranch.
Kenny Rogers

Renowned American singer-songwriter Kenny Rogers, who passed away in March 2020, personally designed his own all-encompassing estate, spanning a whopping 973 acres. The 'Islands in the Stream' co-singer commissioned Beaver Dam Farms back in the 1980s and Rogers claimed that by completing the project, he knew he’d finally realised his dream of becoming a successful musician.

The colossal property features a mansion, numerous guesthouses, a clubhouse, two swimming pools and two clay tennis courts. In 2003, the Grammy Award-winning singer sold his beloved estate to real estate investor Wes Adams, who passed away in 2011. By 2016, the property was up for auction with a starting price of just $3.5 million (£3.02m), which included all of the estate's furnishings.
Kenny Rogers' sprawling estate, Georgia, USA

Located in Athens, Georgia the main manor house covers 12,000 square feet of interior space and is every bit as luxurious as you'd expect a celebrity home to be. With marble columns and floors, coffered ceilings and high-end furnishings, the seven-bedroom house oozes opulence. Every room is vast and highly decorative, while large windows allow for picturesque views across the grounds. Over the years, Rogers is said to have taken inspiration from the estate when penning some of his greatest hits.

Positioned inside the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, her 128-acre ranch belonged to King for more than 30 years, until she listed it for sale in 2016 for a jaw-dropping $9.9 million (£8.55m).
