Home to the De La Warr Pavilion, one of the UK’s finest examples of modernist architecture, Bexhill also boasts a two-mile promenade and a gorgeous beach.

As you might expect from a picture-postcard seaside town, there are plenty of watersports here to keep you occupied, from kite surfing and angling to the Bexhill Sailing Club, with its full programme of racing, and the local rowing club, who can often be seen making waves on the water.

Residents can even apply to rent the cute wooden beach huts that fringe the shore. Brighton, eat your heart out!

When it comes to property, the picturesque Old Town is packed with classic Georgian buildings, 16th-century cottages and peaceful Manor Gardens, not to mention an abundance of independent shops.

A friendly community with a low crime rate, the housing market here is pretty reasonable too, with the average home costing just £267,497.
