Curving along the shores of the Gold Coast, waterfront Château de Reves, which translates as 'house of dreams', proudly resides within the exclusive and highly coveted gated community of Sovereign Islands. Sitting pretty just moments from the village of Paradise Point, this eight-bedroom manse is on the market with Bespoke International Realty for AU$20 million (£11.4m/$13.9m).
The grand mega-mansion spans 31,000 square feet and took three years to build. With soaring ceilings and open-plan, light-filled living spaces, the entryway features Botticino marble floors and an opulent curved staircase that was manufactured in Italy and shipped in one piece. However, there's also a convenient lift that connects the home's various levels too
The eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom trophy home features German technology throughout, using sustainable, marine-grade materials in its construction. The deluxe interior fixtures have been imported from around the world, including Venetian Murano glass and an Italian timber balustrade. Upstairs, you’ll find the master suite, boasting stunning waterfront views and a custom-designed rotating bed.
The perfect party house, there's a full-service bar, a 16-seat formal dining room and a wine cellar. If that wasn't enough, you can also enjoy an impressive indoor-outdoor pool with gold tiling, a full-size tennis court, a spa and even a Turkish steam and massage room. Plus, you can moor your boat in the home's private full-size pontoon and enjoy bridge-free access to the Broadwater and Pacific Ocean.
This iconic coastal estate flanks the stunning green district of Elanora Heights, New South Wales. Elevated living awaits across five stunning acres, with beautiful lagoon and ocean vistas from almost every room. A contemporary masterpiece, this remarkable residence sold in June 2023 for an undisclosed sum.
The expertly designed home enjoys spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows in each room and every living space benefits from its own balcony. The home's five bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms, while the master suite also has its own dressing room, plus a freestanding bathtub with a view. We wouldn't mind an invite!
In addition, the gated estate has a private wing with a lounge and a home office (or sixth bedroom, if unexpected guests land). This wing also houses a custom-built home cinema with luxury leather armchairs and mood lighting. We'd love to settle back and watch mountainous sunset vistas on the big screen, with the real thing in our periphery too.
Reminiscent of a David Hockney painting, an expansive alfresco terrace sits alongside the centrepiece infinity pool, flanked by sprawling level lawns and native gardens where you can enjoy the New South Wales heat. Thankfully, the mansion comes with ducted air conditioning, should the pool not suffice in cooling you down.
With a sumptuous panoramic valley and city skyline backdrop, this designer home has been carefully constructed by a world-class collaboration of architects. Cera Stribley, Philip Withers and bespoke builder Leone Construction worked together to create this 11,000-square-foot residence within one of Toorak’s most exclusive neighbourhoods. The property last sold in 2020 for AU$25 million (£14.3m/$17.4m).
Upon entry, you're greeted by a soaring hallway, featuring a one-of-a-kind moulded helix staircase. The floor plan includes a series of living, dining and entertaining spaces that connect to multiple outdoor areas, including a dedicated rooftop terrace with exquisite views reaching across to Mount Macedon.
The four luxurious bedrooms include the master suite, which benefits from incredible valley views, a drop-down TV, a dressing room and a lavish Portsea Grey marble ensuite bathroom. The expansive estate also has an executive library, a gym and a world-class kitchen with a butler’s pantry and hidden cocktail bar.
There are state-of-the-art amenities throughout the property, including a climate-controlled wine wall that can hold 2,340 bottles, an auto-lock panic room, surround sound, and a self-cleaning swimming pool. What’s more, there’s parking for eight cars in the basement, including two bays with display lighting for your prized automobiles.
Peering out across the historic Sugar Wharf, the award-winning Villa Hemingway spans six expertly designed levels overlooking one of Australia's most scenic coastal routes. Last on the market with Sotheby’s International Realty for AU$10.8 million (£6.2m/$7.5m) but sadly since sold, this stunning property is one of Queensland's most striking residences
A stunning BBQ gazebo and cocktail bar await on one of the outdoor decks – perfect for entertaining guests and watching the sun set behind the coastal mountains with a drink in hand. Lush tropical gardens frame the estate, which is fully gated and walled to ensure privacy.
Within the 7,500 square feet of living space, you’ll find six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, along with six spacious balconies where you can drink in those glittering ocean views. In this luxurious lounge, floor-to-ceiling windows frame the stunning vistas and make the great outdoors the focal point of the interior.
The lower outdoor recreation area boasts a full-sized, floodlit tennis court, while a resort-style swimming pool awaits on a higher level for cooling off after an intense match under the Port Douglas rays. It’s little wonder the villa has won multiple regional and state awards, including House of the Year.
One of the country’s largest and most palatial residences, 26 Knightsbridge Parade East is a seriously impressive address. Encompassing five blocks of land in the covetable Knightsbridge Parade area of Sovereign Islands, a suburb of Paradise Point, the six-bedroom, nine-bathroom mega-mansion boasts 348 feet of sheltered water frontage and a 98-foot waterside pool. The regal estate was previously on the market for AU$44.2 million (£25.3m/$30.8m).
Designed by Brunei Royal Family architect Bayden Goddard, this historic-looking château wouldn't look out of place on the French Riviera. The exterior gets its European good looks from imported Spanish terracotta roof tiles, Roman-style gardens and Turkish travertine feature columns.
Inside, luxury prevails at every turn. From the soaring entrance lobby with sweeping views over the Gold Coast Broadwater and Australia's only 13-foot-tall King Neptune bronze Italian statue, to the sprawling Hamptons-style kitchen perfect for entertaining, this is a house for those who appreciate the finer things in life. Case in point? There is a commercial-grade lift service throughout, and a Turkish bathhouse to boot.
No expense has been spared in building this modern mega-mansion, which took more than six years to complete. The house is extremely strong and stable, with 250 screw piles drilled into the bedrock. The upshot? It can withstand a Category 5 hurricane or typhoon! It is also extremely beautiful, with this huge lounge area boasting 26-foot-high ceilings, wooden parquetry flooring and stylish arched windows and doorways.
Selling for AU$60 million (£34.3m/$42m) in 2018, it was just the third time this gothic revival mansion has changed hands since it was built in 1883. And we don't blame the previous owners for wanting to hold on to Rona; it's a very special property. Suffice to say the new owners, long-time Bellevue Hill locals Jacqui and Richard Scheinberg, are in for a real treat.
Rona has a rich history; it was built in 1883 for industrialist Edward Knox and designed by architect Gustavus Morell. Several modifications have been made to the sandstone mansion over the years following fire damage and new ownership. Today the historic house offers everything in modern family luxury including a tennis court, swimming pool, wine cellar and built-in bar.
Inside the main mansion, a double-height entrance hall sets the tone. Meanwhile, the gourmet marble kitchen boasts state-of-the-art appliances and a separate scullery, perfect for entertaining. But it's the grand hall with its breathtaking glass ceiling that steals the show.
Throughout, attention to detail is obvious, from the heated floors to the fine Kauri joinery. We’re also diehard fans of the ornate wooden ceilings and hefty fireplaces. There are eight bedrooms in total with the master suite home to harbour views, open fireplaces, a generous walk-in wardrobe and his-and-hers Calacatta marble ensuites. There's also a three-bedroom guesthouse for overnight visitors.
A historic stately home a stone's throw from Sydney's buzzing CBD, Tresco is a waterfront, compound-style pile set among rolling grounds, which was previously on the market for AU$50 million (£28.6m/$34.9m). Built in 1868, the sandstone manor home is a mesmerising example of early Victorian Italianate architecture, conveniently tucked away in one of the city’s most covetable harbourfront enclaves.
The historic property was originally designed by leading architect Thomas Rowe. Today, you'll find the property walks the line between heritage and contemporary with tremendous success, retaining period features including high decorative ceilings, ornate fireplaces and stunning hardwood and tiled flooring.
Located less than two miles from the Sydney Central Business District (CBD), this is one for the water lovers. Here you'll find a unique deep-water jetty complete with a double-sided wharf and extra sea wall pillars. There's also a large pontoon with enough capacity to moor a large cruiser, perfect if your new lifestyle requires a big boat. The new owners will also surely delight in the private seawater pool and boathouse, along with the meticulously landscaped gardens.
Though no longer for sale, the eight-bedroom, four-bathroom property offered great potential for those looking to place their mark on their new pad. And what a location to do it in! Set in the exclusive Elizabeth Bay Loop, it's walking distance to Potts Point’s fine collection of restaurants and wine bars.
Craving the countryside but reluctant to give up on the finer things in life? This gorgeous rural property set in the Mornington Peninsula could be just the ticket. The remarkable remote home in Victoria reportedly last sold in 2020 for AU$16 million (£9.1m/$11.1m).
Inspired by the classic Australian Farmhouse aesthetic, the design elements of this eye-catching home were handled by some of the best in the business, including Holly Hunt and Timothy Oulton. Inside, the five-bedroom, four-bathroom single-level home is timeless throughout, with the focus put on the surrounding rural and bay views out to Phillip Island.
The garden also benefits from an expert touch, with leading landscape gardener Paul Bangay involved in the design of the grounds and pool area. The house is set on a huge acreage including 50 acres of prime rolling pastures with mature trees and paddocks. You'll find horse stables, stockyards, hay shedding, machinery sheds and even an olive grove (which produces around 300 litres of olive oil annually). There are also 135 acres of adjoining common native bushland.
The property is not an exercise in style-over-substance, though; the practicalities of this house have been thought through, and then some. You'll enjoy the benefits of the in-floor hydronic heating, full home remote automation and a soaring dry-stack open fireplace. Even the infinity-edge pool and spa boast built-in cleaning functions!
Fancy a peek around the former home of Russell Crowe and Rupert Murdoch? Come on in! Considered one of the country's most distinguished trophy homes, Berthong sits alongside another iconic Sydney home, Boomerang House. But Berthong is impressive as a standalone property, thanks to its previous famous owners and rich cultural legacy.
The five-bedroom property dates back to 1886 when it was built as a ladies' college and is one of just a handful of salubrious properties in Elizabeth Bay. Over the years, the house has benefitted from extensive renovation work to bring it firmly into the 21st century, while retaining charming historic features such as the spacious colonial-style balcony that frames the house.
Thoughtful, design-led details can be spotted throughout, from the intricate and arresting stained-glass window in the dining room to the Calacatta marble kitchen, complete with butler's pantry. Signs of craftsmanship are also evident in the ornate cornices, slate roof and colonnade of arched windows.
As well as the remarkable interior, the property boasts glorious gardens featuring a sandstone terrace, waterside pool and 100-year-old fig trees. All that set against harbour views that span from the Garden Island naval base to Clark Island – it's not hard to see the appeal and it goes some way to explaining the AU$37 million (£21.2m/$25.8m) price tag of the original listing.
Hayven is an unapologetically modern mansion on Noosa’s prestigious waterfront location, The Anchorage. The sprawling Sunshine Coast retreat is built to the same quality as a fine hotel, with some of the same features you'd expect, including two jetties, a 82-foot pool, a championship tennis court and even its very own nightclub.
The property was the holiday home of the late businessman Donald Hay and his wife Maribi and was reportedly last sold in August 2020 for AU$10 million (£5.7m/$7m). It’s a property for those who love to host, with capacity for up to 32 overnight guests, along with fun facilities aplenty, like a gym and steam room, cabana and Teppanyaki grill, a wine cellar and a media room. You'll also find an onsite caretaker and maid quarters, which should make entertaining your guests a breeze.
Designed by prominent Australian architect Shane Thompson, the 13-bedroom, 12-bathroom home has been tailored for enjoying the subtropical lifestyle. We particularly love the vast frameless glass doors, which can be automatically opened to the elements. And what a setting! The property sprawls along 196 feet of water frontage and has two private jetties, a boat shed and three boat lifts.
Of the 13 bedrooms, you'll want to select the master for yourself. It boasts two ensuites, each with their own dressing room, along with a sitting room, kitchenette and balcony. This wing of the house also contains four children's rooms, each of which has a private ensuite and a walk-in wardrobe.
