Spanning 2,100 square feet (195sqm), the attractive green and white two-and-a-half-storey house has six rooms. These include the living and dining rooms, which are decorated with intricate wood furniture and floral prints, the traditional kitchen, and three spacious bedrooms.

For the young future president, the house was a place of possibility. "I remember being upstairs and looking out the window at the train tracks and imagining a world that lay beyond my street," he told the National Park Service.
