Located in the country's renowned Dordogne region, half way between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees mountains, this idyllic hideaway is elevated off the ground on timber stilts, making it perfect for the likes of Rapunzel. Luckily though, you don't need to climb her hair in order to go inside...

The teeny castle comes equipped with two dominant turrets for maximum fairytale effect. Growing alongside the trees that enclose the property, the towers perfectly blend in with the neighbouring chestnuts and oaks. An attractive exterior balcony offers sweeping views across the surrounding landscape, while an outdoor hot tub allows for plenty of moments of princess-inspired self-indulgence.

The property's owner, Remi, has eight years of experience creating treehouses across France and poured his heart and soul into the project, in order to create the ultimate mystical hideaway. Despite its petite size, the home's interior feels spacious, thanks to an elegant vaulted ceiling and beautiful stained glass windows. Throughout the converted trailer you can see evidence of Glen's personality, and exceptional carpentry skills. While the home's front door features an incredible carved dragon, the cabinets and cladding that line the vehicle's walls offer a psychedelic finish. Rather amazingly, the timber on display here is ordinary plywood that Glen has magically transformed into something beautiful. Intricate and fantastical in equal measure, the tiny home is also extremely practical for everyday living.

Named Radagast after the woodland wizard from J. R. R. Tolkien's books, the 161-square-foot tiny home is a true representation of Glen's passions and was built to his exacting requirements. There's a spacious kitchen, a versatile lounge space and a comfortable king-sized bed. "I decided to create something totally unusual," he told Living Big in a Tiny House. "I wanted to feel good every minute that I'm here." The result is a truly extraordinary home that simply couldn't be replicated.

Straight out of Little Red Riding Hood, this chocolate box cabin on wheels can be found on Swallowtail Hill Farm in East Sussex, UK. Known as the Woodcutter's Cottage, the property is clad in natural timber, allowing it to seamlessly blend in with its surroundings. Custom made from locally sourced materials, the hut sits on a secluded spot in Dean Wood, an eight-acre oasis filled with towering chestnuts.

In fact, Emmett the gargoyle sits atop the front door, as if warning off those that might dare to approach...

The copper-roofed roundhouse was painstakingly constructed by Nic and Lucy, a conservation officer and an artistic horticulturalist respectively. Located in the depths of the four-acre Santarella Estate in western Massachusetts, USA, the petite pad was once the summer studio of the famous sculptor, Henry Hudson Kitson.

The only place we'd want to spend our 100 years in a deep, ageless sleep, the Silo Studio is as enticing as it is fantastical.

Fans of swashbuckling adventures will love the Pirateship Treehouse in Auckland, New Zealand. Located on the eco-friendly Tanglewood Retreat in Waimauku, the incredibly unique tiny home was created from an old sailing ship dating back to 1935, which was bought on an auction website for just £363 ($466) and lovingly restored using reclaimed materials.

There's a crow's nest that was formed from an old wine barrel and striking windows made from reclaimed glass. Known as Winckler Cottage after its owner, the home is often given the affectionate nickname of 'Hansel and Gretel Cottage' and it isn't difficult to see why! There's an L-shaped kitchen, a living room with ocean views, and an organically shaped staircase that leads to the bedroom mezzanine. The house even features a tiny mushroom-shaped chimney cap, which sits proudly on the roof. Made by a local metalwork artist, this little touch enhances the playfulness of the cottage.

In this home, even the bathroom has been given the fairytale treatment. Clad in stones and shiplap, the space boasts antique mirrors, Victorian-style light fixtures, decorative stained glass and a copper sink.

Situated in the bottom of Amanda and Dave's garden in Northamptonshire, UK, the quaint little retreat appears to be growing straight from the ground, thanks to its grass-covered roof, its wonky log walls and its mushroom-like shape.

The couple wanted to create something special in the bottom of their garden and initially thought about building a bench or a summerhouse. None of these ideas sparked their imagination, so Amanda asked a carpenter friend to help her create something extraordinary out of reclaimed tree trunks. Local farmers heard of the project and would visit the site to donate turf for the roof. Gradually, the couple's real-life Hobbit home began to take shape.

This ultra-discrete tiny home couldn't be any more magical. Formed from salvaged timber and decorated with native moss, the miniature hut is perfectly camouflaged against its natural backdrop, in the heart of a rainforest in America's Pacific Northwest. Designed, built and occupied by Jacob Witzling and Sara Underwood and photographed by everchanginghorizon, the beautiful cabin was inspired by the whimsy of fairytales.

Thanks to its unique hexagonal shape, the cabin packs in plenty of space, while its raised ceiling makes the interior feel far more spacious. Covering just 93 square feet, the tiny home has been cleverly split into two levels: one for communal living and the other for sleeping. Outside, there's also a rustic hot tub, formed from salvaged cedar, an old wood stove and a tin basin, making it ideal for magical nights under the stars.

Cleverly, Jacob and Sara designed the cabin so that the walls would sit at a 30-degree angle, creating additional space inside for storage and furniture. The shape of the cabin also allows for extra floor space, while 16 custom-made windows welcome in lots of natural light. A ladder leads up to a cosy sleeping loft that floats above the lounge, where there's a double bed and a stunning pitched ceiling adorned with salvaged Douglas fir.
